Drinking Water Screening Initiative for Childcare Facilities

Summerville CPW is proactively preparing for revisions to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule. A key component of the rule was to create a Service Line Inventory to determine if any lead pipes are present in the drinking water distribution system. Summerville CPW completed an inventory of all water pipes in its service area and determined no lead pipes are present. The next step to meet the requirements of the rule is to test for lead in the drinking water of schools and daycares. Summerville CPW consistently provides safe and clean water, and these new regulations should not be a cause for concern among the community.
