Maintenance Mechanic I or II

Position Objectives:

The Maintenance Mechanic position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in the wastewater collection system, wastewater treatment plant, and water distribution system. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Routine pump station maintenance
  • Instrumentation maintenance and repair
  • Operates vactor, crane, and boom trucks; operates pump stations; uses hand and power tools
  • Rehabilitation/conversion of pump stations
  • Pump station monitoring and controls via the SCADA system
  • Other duties include building maintenance, operation of heavy equipment, wetwell vactoring, and record keeping
  • Maintenance Mechanics and Electrician/Mechanics participate in a weekly on-call emergency duty rotation approximately every 6 weeks.

     

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants are required to have a High School diploma or GED equivalent and a valid SC driver’s license.

Desirable Training and Experience:

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance and repairs
  • Knowledge and experience with hand and power tools
  • Experience with a variety of pump types and motors
  • A South Carolina Wastewater Collections Operator license
  • A South Carolina CDL Class B
