Duties and Responsibilities:

The Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic performs installations and preventive/corrective maintenance on all mechanical and electrical equipment used and operated in the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Wastewater Collection System, and Water Distribution System. 

Minimum Requirements:

HS diploma or GED required.  Valid SC driver's license is required.

Desirable Training and Experience:

Experience in electrical installation, Journeyman’s certificate, wastewater collections licenses, SC commercial driver’s license, Vactor truck operations, crane certifications and instrumentation/SCADA experience a plus.  Preferred candidate will hold a certificate or AS degree in Electrical Technologies, or similar field; or a combination of related education and work experience totaling three years. 

  • Electrical, instrumentation, fields systems and components
  • Generators, emergency power, installation, operations, troubleshooting
  • Installation of instrumentation, SCADA, telemetry, VFDs, wiring of panels
  • Safety in high voltage situations and all systems to include national electrical code
  • Instrumentation calibrations, diagnostics and troubleshooting with test equipment
  • Plan, layout, and install conduit and wiring from simple circuit to complex control panels
  • Perform electrical installations according to building codes and safety regulations including high voltage
  • Installation of instrumentation, SCADA, telemetry, VFDs, wiring of panels
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, Arc Flash regulations, CPR, and Confined Space are a plus
  • Ability to use electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Research and locate vendors to procure superior economical parts and components
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all mechanical/electrical equipment and system components including but not limited to pumps, valves, piping and gauges
  • Operate vactor truck, crane and boom trucks, pump stations, hand and power tools
  • Rebuilds, installs and troubleshoots submersible and suction lift pumps
  • Safely enter confined spaces to include wet wells and manholes
  • Performs after hours on-call duty rotation
